Callum Clancy | Irish Rider Profiles
May 2017

Name: Callum Clancy
Plate Number: IRL #617 | UK #15
2017 Race Class: IRL 11-12 Male | UK 11 Male
Home Town: Naas, Co. Kildare
Cycling Club: Lucan BMX Club
Team / Sponsor: My dad! Biking Dirty, Youth BMX & Snickers Workware
Favourite place to ride / train? Ratoath BMX Track
Favourite track you have raced? Telford in the UK and the world famous ‘Y Orange’ near Costa Mesa, California which closed down at the end of 2016 after 39 years, pity!
Favourite riders to watch (Irish or International)? Irish: Sam Murphy | International: Kye White, I think he’s going to be something special!
What has been your favourite Irish event so far this year? Has to be Round 2 at Ratoath BMX … sorry Lucan.
What’s your dream bike? That’s so tough! Chase ACT 1.0 carbon or the Avent Carbon Orca.
Lights or beeps? Lights always.
Manual or jump? Both now that I’m starting to jump.
How many years have you been racing? 5 years!
How did the 2016 season go for you? IRL: Raced up an age and won the #3 plate | UK: #15 plate.
What are you plans / goals / hopes for the 2017 season? To be the National Champion. Make another assault on the British BMX Series and finish with a UK top 10 Plate. I’m hoping to get a good result at the Europeans in Bordeaux this summer as it’s going to be my first time wearing that Green Irish jersey … fingers crossed.
Do you have any long term BMX goals? To become a Pro and have some fun travelling the world like my Hero’s.
How would you improve Irish BMX? What would you like to see in the future? I think Cycling Ireland need focus on pump tracks in public parks all over the country so kids can see what it’s all about and have fun on their bikes all day long.
Thanks Fifteen for the opportunity to do this rider profile, it was great fun, my Dad helped me! Callum.
