Tre Whyte – Bike Check | Interview
September 2016
The UK’s Tre Whyte has had an interesting year to say the least but rather than re-hash it all we wanted to find out more about the stunning new ‘Prophecy Scud’ he and the rest of the GET Racing Maxtrax team are shredding.
As well as the new ride, Whyte has also launched a clothing line, Realm Clothing … he’s just won the 2016 Brits in a stacked field (video below) and now he’s getting ready to travel to the USA for the last two rounds of the 2016 UCI Supercross World Cup …
Interesting times ahead for the former Elite World number 3!
*Interview and bike check were done prior to the 2016 Brits & SX World Cup selection.
15: What are your plans going forward, SX World Cups etc. we assume? Should we expect to see the #roadtotokyo hash-tag pop up in your status updates any time soon?
TW: Ha ha, Tokyo is four years away and of course that is the long term goal but there will be a lot of big races before then which could also make a big impact in my life so I doubt you’ll be seeing that in my pics for the next 2 to 3 years. I’m not that keen … yet.
15: Your training facilities in Manchester have got to be the envy of the BMX world but do you have a preference for racing Supercross tracks or the standard variety?
TW: As much as I enjoy racing Supercross I always enjoy racing the normal tracks because I train on Supercross all the time. It’s a good change to go back to standard tracks … I think sometimes they make for better racing and less risk.
15: We’ve seen a lot of the top riders training on flat pedals recently, do you switch back and forth between flats and clips?
TW: No, I don’t switch to flat pedals at all really … unless I decide to go to a skate park which is rare, that’s the only time I’d ride on flats. I am planning on riding skate parks and trials a lot more this winter though so I may need to build a park bike ha ha.
15: You’ve recently started Realm Clothing, your new clothing line. Fill us in on the idea behind it, your plans for it and where we can get our hands on some gear.
TW: Yeah, I started Realm Clothing with a friend of mine, Jordan Hayes. It’s something we spoke about doing for quite a while but we just never really had the time to put it all together, so when the time was right we got it started.
Its moving slowly and we have had good feedback and got some exciting ideas in the pipeline so keep a eye out for it. We have had a lot of help from the guys at ENV Graphics also, be sure to have a look at their work.
We’re currently working on a website but we have a Instagram and a Facebook page up and running, you can get in contact with us there … search @Realm.clothing

15: Any idea of the total weight?
TW: No idea.
15: What difference did you notice when you switched to carbon?
TW: When I switched to carbon the thing I noticed the most was how light it was and easy to throw around … and also the stiffness.
15: We are hoping to have an open race in Ireland next year with some good prize money, you’ll have to come … and bring GET Racing MaxTrax with you.
TW: The races in Ireland look quite good and with the competition out there getting bigger and better … look forward to making a trip with the team.
