The Apple Valley outfit have upgraded the monocoque chassis from the previous T1100 KS to a cutting-edge blend of Toray M40X and M46X Carbon Fiber with Nano Alloy Resin. The new material makes the Vision F1x even lighter, stronger and more rigid, in all the right places. Supercross tell us the material upgrade is a massive jump forward in the BMX world when it comes to going fast on carbon.

The cutting-edge material does come at a cost … the Vision F1x will lighten your wallet by $2399.95 for the frame. You can preorder the frame now, on the Supercross BMX site, and then watch Kye Whyte and Oli Moran ride theirs until yours arrives. We believe the original Vision F1 will sell alongside the F1x…

SUPERCROSS BMX – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Supercross BMX Launches the Vision F1x: The Intersection of Formula 1 Technology and World Championship Racing
APPLE VALLEY, CA – Supercross BMX, the 8-time Golden Crank “Bike of the Year” winner, is proud to announce the official launch of the Vision F1x. This frame represents a revolutionary evolution of the championship-proven monocoque Vision F1 and stands as the lightest, strongest, and most efficient Supercross BMX frame ever produced.

Engineering the “Launch”.
The Vision F1x is not merely an update; it is a material revolution. While building upon the world-renowned geometry of the Vision F1, Supercross engineers have integrated a proprietary blend of Toray M40x and M46x Prepreg Carbon Fiber—the same high-performance materials trusted by the Red Bull F1 Team for their chassis and utilized in critical aerospace applications.

Historically, carbon fiber engineering faced a “trade-off” problem: increasing stiffness usually meant losing durability. The F1x breaks this rule using the Torayca™ MX Series. By utilizing nano-level control of the graphite crystallite structure, the M46x fiber is approximately 20% stronger than previous high-modulus fibers while maintaining extreme rigidity.

For the racer, this translates to “The Launch.” The high-modulus fibers act as a reinforced spine, resisting lateral flex during a Pro-level gate start and ensuring 100% of the rider’s energy is transferred to the rear wheel. This “livelier” feel has already been validated on the track by elite team riders Kye Whyte and Oli Moran, who describe the bike as “jumping” forward the moment they engage.

“Winning that 8th Golden Crank was a massive honor, but we aren’t the type to sit back and rest on our records,” said Bill Ryan, owner of Supercross BMX. “That recognition has only made us dig harder to ensure we are giving the BMX community the world’s best products. From the 6-bar stiffened rear ends of our early Cro-Mo days to this new F1x, our goal has always been to eliminate flex and maximize speed. The F1x is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the riders who put us on top.”

We have been casually talking to André Neteler for quite some time about his andrenalin wheels project, and we were intrigued, but we do get a lot of people contacting us about their latest and greatest product only to find out, when you delve in, that it’s just another branded part from a Chinese catalogue. So, while we were intrigued, we also had a healthy dose of scepticism.

Then we sat down and had a couple of hours deep dive with André, where we realised these are not just another set of nice wheels, these were meticulously designed, meticulously considered and built with a purpose. The purpose … to be extremely light, stiff, and to go fast!

André Neteler has been building wheels for years; he describes it as his passion but knew he could improve on what was available on the market. What makes André qualified to conceive of the BMX wheel evolution you might ask? Well, on top of the desire to do it, he’s an old school racer, a mechanic for the German elite nation team, and runs a sideline as a Mercedes engineer (his real job) … but what’s better than one Mercedes engineer taking on the BMX wheel conundrum? Three Mercedes engineers! André teamed up with two of his colleagues, Tim Zanker, a prototype enginneer, and Nicholas Minsch, an aerospace engineer, who also happen to run 12eleven, a boutique carbon fiber rim company. But even with all that expertise at their disposal, they would still have to change mindsets in the BMX world, a world that may just be entrenched in the idea that you need 36, three cross spokes. That’s not the world the Mercedes engineers wanted to reside in!

From the outset the target was simple, design and build a very high-end wheelset for elite level BMX racers. A wheel with a weight in the region of 1100g, with a low rolling resistance, and as stiff as other builds on the market. Easy huh!

The team approached Heuer Radsport, a company who develops high-end track bike hubs, to help with the project. Neither Heuer Radsport or 12eleven had been in the BMX world up to this point, but after what we assume took some convincing, both enthusiastically joined the project … and they all set about the design process.

The key to the weight loss on the wheel design; besides carefully designing the carbon rims with high grade material, and a minimalist set high-end hubs … was the spokes, or rather the amount of spokes and tier length. How can you reduce the number of them and still retain stiffness and strength? You can’t just decide to go to 28 spokes on the rear wheel for a fully formed adult and cross your fingers. Every dimension on the hubs was analysed, every fraction of a millimetre was tweaked to perfection. Wider flanges are better for strength, matching the angle of the spokes on the left and the right to make them symmetrical (which is not straightforward!) increases stiffness, more material between spoke holes increases hub strength in critical areas. The level of design detail the team went to in order achieve the goal is truly impressive. If you look closely, you’ll even notice the rear rim is offset 2.5mm to get the symmetrical spokes. Details …

All the specs and technical details are impressive, but its not until you get your hands on a set of the andrenalin wheels, that you realise how beautiful the wheels are. All the details are simple, functional, designed to perfection, not embellished. Purpose over gimmick. And light, oh my god are they light! The rear wheel, a 28 spoke, 2 cross lace design, tipped our scales (without tyres or tubes) at 690g, and the front, with its visually impressive, 24 spoke radially laced design (shorter spokes, means lighter), came in at a featherweight 510g. And it’s all rotational weight!

Once on the bike, the weight saving is instantly noticeable, the bike just accelerates effortlessly. Despite the slight feeling of concern when you first put the 28 and 24 spoke wheels on a bike you are about to jump doubles on, we noticed no lack of strength or stiffness. In fact, the wheels felt stiffer than other wheels to us. We have no doubt that that is partially due to the quality of materials, and in no small part to André’s expertise in wheel building.

If you are used to the silence of the most ubiquitous hubs at the track, you’ll instantly notice the buzz from the Heuer hubs, we liked the change to be honest. You may even notice the lack of instant engagement from the rear hub, but it’s so close to instant that it’s almost a moot point. What we are sure you will notice is how smooth the ride becomes!

While we’re the first to admit that we are not even close to enacting the levels of force through the wheels, especially the rear, as an Elite rider would, we’re confident we case more jumps, and drop the front on lips during failed manuals, than any elite rider could dream of. We’ve had zero issues so far …

Elite riders have been rigorously testing the wheels for a significant amount of time though. Germany’s Philip Schaub told us, ‘I‘ve been using the Adrenalin wheel set for 1,5 years already and I love them. They are not only super light and roll smooth, but also super stiff. In many ways, the best wheelset you can get right now.’ The team at Andrenalin initially expected the wheels to last a top-level rider in the region of just one season, and way longer for the rest of us mere mortals, but Philip remarked, ‘even after 1.5 years they still feel like day one.’

Julian Schmidt, another German national team rider has also been testing the concept, ‘I really like the wheels! They are next level! Extremely light weight and at same time stiff and robust enough for elite racing.’

What we think is key to the success here was the approach the team took. It wasn’t to design the best rim and the best hub … it was a cohesive approach, it was to design the best wheel! Everything must work together, in unison, to achieve the goal … and it does. The 12eleven rims, the Heuer Radsport hubs, the Sapim CX-Ray Spokes, the beautifully designed Heuer cog, the care in the build … they all excel together. The wheels excel! Don’t think of the reduced number of spokes, think of the endless hours of engineering, the specialist knowledge, the passion it takes to take this type of idea from paper to the bike. The result is undoubtedly impressive …

As mentioned above, the ERA has already been on the racetrack. Bias took it to a UEC Euro Cup final earlier this year, and Mathis raced it at the UCI World Cup in Argentina. There is, unfortunitily, no option to return to the lighter V-Brake option in the design though … we’re still a fan of the lighter, less cumbersome and simpler brakes of the past … we accept we are in the minority here …

Overall, the new Inspyre design looks intriguing, it’s been designed with a goal in mind, with thought. It’s not just modified from a catalogue. Pricing (subject to change), starts at €1899 / $1999. We’re looking forward to getting our hands on one for a closer look.

Flat Mount Brake Standard (120 mm) – Compact, lightweight and fully integrated. Designed for a 120mm rotor, more than enough for BMX where extreme braking power is unnecessary. The goal, precision, reduced weight and a clean aesthetic.

Axial Dropouts (15 mm + 10 mm adapters) – Dropouts engineered around a 15 mm axle for maximum stiffness and precision. Thanks to our adapters, ERA remains 100% compatible with 10 mm.

Fully guided internal cable routing – The brake hose runs through a dedicated internal channel: just push it in — everything lines up automatically. Fast, clean and frustration-free installation.

No proprietary seat post or clamp – ERA uses common standards for both the seat post and seat clamp. In case of an issue, finding a replacement part is easy, anywhere in the world.

It’s the fourth year of the Fifteen BMX ‘Pro’s Pro of the Year’. A post-Olympic year, somewhat pressure free year, where only BMX pride was on the line. In order to win, racers needed the votes of their peers, of which only the top 20 UCI ranked Elite Men and Women qualify a vote. We also polled a handful of others who would have their finger on the pulse, so to say. They would mostly be, but not limited to, former World Class Elite riders, some of whom are now in the coaching business and a few others connected to the World Cup circuit.

After a second behind Sylvain in round one, his first UCI World Cup win came in Sarrians at round two. He wrapped up the World Cup title with back to back wins in Argentina while wearing the World Champs rainbow jersey he decisively won in Denmark. He only raced two Euro Cup rounds, one of which he won, and finished second the following day. There is also the second-place finish at the Euro Champs! Currently sitting at the top of the 2025 UCI rankings with a massive 1000 point buffer, it would be wrong to say 2025 was a breakout year for Pils, but it was undeniably dominant … and his fellow racers agreed, giving Arthur a whopping 89.3% of the votes, the most of any rider to date.

She got close to 47% of the vote, from her peers, after an incredible year on the track. Beth added a third Elite World title to her resume in Denmark and another yet European title just as the icing on the cake. Throw in three wins and a second from the four Euro Cups she raced, a UCI World Cup win in Papendal and podiums in Sarrians and Argentina, before opting to end her season a little early to sort out niggling injury with surgery … 2025 has, undoubtedly been Bethany Shriever’s year! If she can pull off back-to-back World Championship wins in Australia next year, making it four Elite titles, we’ll see her back here again in ’26!

“Arthur Pilard, hands down, has been dominant all year. Molly Simpson has been consistent at the USA series and made her mark on the World Cup circuit too.”

“Arthur Pilard and Beth Shriever, both doing it when it was needed, when pressure was the highest.”

“Arthur Pilard and Bethany Shiever. Both a force to be reckoned with!”

“Arthur Pilard, winning his first World Cup, World Champs, and World Cup overall in one year is crazy and pretty unbeatable, super consistent. Beth Shriever showed up when it counted, Euros and Worlds titles both super impressive. Especially considering dealing with her injury again post Paris. Plus, her new dog is so cute!”

“For me Arthur Pilard to step up and win his first World Cup & back it up with world title & World Cup overall is massive so he takes my male. female, I’ll give it to Beth for taking the world title.”

“So, for the women’s category my vote would go to Saya because of her consistency on the world scene. And for men I’d probably choose Arthur, he just showed how strong Frenchie’s really are!”

“Arthur Pilard and Beth Shriever, because they won Worlds, simple.”

“Arthur Pilard, he’s had a dominant year, winning both the World Championships and World Cup overall. Saya Sakakibara, consistently at the top in the World Cup series, and winning the overall. She finished top 2 at every race this year besides one (a 5th), pretty crazy!”

“I would say Arthur Pillard for sure. And it’s tight between Beth and Saya. But I would go for Beth, as she did a 3rd world title and I’m pretty sure she will be the first to make four.”

“So, the male rider of the year for me is Arthur Pilard. He won his first World Cup in France, a podium at European champs and won the World title. Back-to-back in Argentina after a big break. He never missed a gate except at the French champs. The choice is very close with Andre because he podiumed at every race until Argentina! Just insane! For the female rider … Saya, she’s always the, the most consistent rider in this category.”

“My female pro of the year would have to be Bethany, she’s super strong not only on the bike but mentally, she’s an inspiration, she truly is the goat. Male Pro of the year would be Arthur, his incredible ability on a bike and his attitude off the bike.”

“Drew Polk. Exciting to watch, especially in turns. Needs a bit of luck to make that elusive first WC main. Combines that with a solid YouTube presence, which adds value for sponsors. Women … Beth Shriever. Euro and World Champ. Probably woulda won the Grands if she’d gone.”
