We’re not sure that anyone saw this one coming but … today, Twan van Gendt became the latest Dutch Army rider to opt out of the Dutch National Squad in favour the other Dutch team, ‘Team Oegema TVE’ … in search of a more ‘personal approach’.
“I am convinced that this transition will make the difference for me to be more on the global stage”, says Twan van Gendt. “I have always ridden the KNWU with great pleasure and I am also grateful to national coach Bas de Bever for the past years. But no man or athlete is equal and I believe that the personal approach of Martijn Jaspers will lead me further towards Tokyo 2020.”
Van Gent joins the successful new Oegema TVE team on a three-year deal with the goal of Olympic glory in Tokyo under new coach Martijn Jaspers.
