The Velosolutions UCI Pump Track World Championship qualifiers pitched their tents in Hvidovre, a suburb of Copenhagen earlier this weekend with a talented international filed in tow … all looking for a ticket to the recently announced Worlds finals scheduled to take place on the 9th of November in the township of KwaMashu, Durban, South Africa!

Just 15 minutes outside of Copenhagen, the Velosolutions track in Hvidovre was completed in October 2023. At 200 meters long, featuring a number of challenging 180 turns and some fun, fast jumpable straights it was going to be a leg burner!

In the women’s division, Felicia Klingström, who finished with an impressive 7th place at last year’s World Championships in Area 47, Austria, was on fire. She dominated every lap … by a solid margin, laying down a marker for South Africa. Danielle Vrenegoor, and newly crowned Swedish champion, Astrid Stoltz, rounded out the podium and are now making plans for their trip to Durban in a few months.

In the men’s division, all eyes were on 2021 World Champion Eddy Clerte, and he didn’t disappoint! It looks like Eddy is rekindling his love of the discipline and will obviously be on to watch come November.

Sweden’s Love Sylwan, wasn’t far behind, even clocking some faster times in the quarters and semis. However, in the final, Eddy demonstrated his expertise by posting the fastest lap of the day, an impressive 17.797 seconds, making him the only rider to go sub 18! Love pushed a bit too hard in the challenging S-turn section, but it was clear that both riders put on a show. ‘It hasn’t been an easy road to be able to step on a pump track and feel 100% without fear since my crash in 2022,’ Eddy remarked, ‘but time heals, and I’ve worked hard to be back fully confident and having fun again. It was nice to feel like myself again and I’m excited to go to south Africa in a few months!’
