Known for its rich history and vibrant culture, Košice, truly shone as it hosted the first Slovakian Pump Track Worlds Qualifier, providing the perfect backdrop for an action-packed day of racing. Latvia’s Supercross rider, Vineta Petersone, fresh from the BMX Racing World Championships in the USA, and cheered on by the large and passionate crowd, was in charge from the get-go. She routinely clocked in the fastest times throughout the day, and even with a small mistake in the final, she managed to take the win, but it was only by a mere 0.1 of a second. Marika Kudra from Poland showcased her incredible technique but couldn’t improve on her fastest time in the final, she took second place. The Slovakian girls were on fire, too, with Amélia Kissová winning the inter-Slovakian battle against Kristina Madarasova to take third.
In the Men’s category, the nerves of the young riders played a big role. Local hero Didlič Ábel faced a crash in the quarterfinals, while Geroč Jakub and others made some costly mistakes. Despite the intense competition, Daniel Hradski was confident and dominated the day, winning by 0.8 seconds in the final run securing the top place on the podium, with Filip Matiaško putting up a strong fight right until the end, ultimately finishing second.

Sugar Land, Texas, was the first appearance of the 2023 Men’s Pump Track World Champion, Alec Bob, in this years series. Wearing the UCI Rainbow jersey and on his custom painted Dvide bike it was going to be a major task for any of the other men to reign him in. But the likes of Tommy Zula, a previous owner of the rainbow stripes, and Brady Kincheloe, who knows how to go fast on a pump track, where not going to make it easy. Neither would the intense Texas heat.
By the time the large field was whittled down to the top four, only Bob and Zula were consistently clocking sub 21 second lap times. But Bob peaked in the final while Zula faltered in the semi. The World Champion held the best till last and produced the fastest time of the day in the final with a blistering 20.409 seconds! Kincheloe had to settle for the second step on the podium, with Zula in third.
Ashley Kincheloe, Brady’s wife (we’re pretty sure) was unstoppable in the women’s class, consistently recording the fastest time. She joins husband Brady on the list for the Worlds Finals, although her win earns her the all-expenses paid trip to the yet unknown location.
