After a very short off season we are jumping into the first two rounds of the 2020 UCI Supercross World Cup Series in a very hot Shepparton, Australia. 58 Elite Women from 19 Nations along with 140 Elite Men from 24 Nations will all be looking to stamp their authority on the proceedings early on in this Olympic year. For some start of the season predictions we hit up Justin Kimmann for that insider knowledge! ‘Graf will be a contender in his last year of racing. He looks good and sharp every race and has been close to winning World Cups for the last couple years so he’s definitely one to look out for, especially on the small and technical track in Shepparton. Mahieu was on fire at the last SX race in 2019 (Tokyo) and he’s one of my favourites at the wide open first straights at both stops. Connor had some injuries but is looking good in his videos, and he was riding well at the 2019 USA Grands, so he’ll be back “chasing” for the win. Niek won the World Cup Ranking last year and rode a great World Cup season, I think he will try to keep that going in 2020! And of course, home country favourites Kennedy, Dean & Sakakibara will be trying to make podiums / finals in front of the home crowd. They will be ready to race on home soil!
Justin’s take on the Women’s field? ‘Laura & Alise will be battling again like they always do. Saya has won a World Cup before and is always ready to show her best performance, I think she might show a little bit extra in her home country. UCI team Members Simone & Zoë are both technical riders and good racers, so I expect them to do well in those two race weekends.’
