Why the ‘Flame Blue’ colour? Bill Ryan explains …
“When I was 15 years old, I started a little frame company called High Tech. I had my personal bike in a ‘Matte Baby Blue’, part of the reason was I was working at SE, and wanting to ride for SE … but Scot said I wasn’t ready to ride for them yet and that I was an SE fan boy, so I did my personal HIGH TECH in a ‘Matte Baby Blue’. It was supposed to be gloss, but the spray paint I bought was a 2 step, a base coat and a gloss top coat, I didn’t know that, so I only bought the base, and since then I’ve always liked that color! (See HERE for a brief history of Supercross with Bill).
So when Kam and I were brainstorming a color, he asked me if there was a color I ever wanted to do, and I told him yea, ‘I have been wanting to do this Matte Flame Blue for a long time, but none of the riders ever wanted to ride it’, he was like ‘damn, you must be reading my mind, I would LOVE to ride that color.’ So we did it!
This year we are finally going to get to introduce a few RIDER signature items and colorways, Kam has decided he wants the Matte Flame Blue, Felicia of course has her Purple, I think Bubba and Makieva might fight over the Green, so that will be interesting. Bella is taking Pink as hers and we will see what Josh picks! You know, we’re just putting some flavor on some things …”
